On Wednesday evening our Y5 team of marvellous mathematicians travelled to Holy Cross Catholic High School to compete in the Thomas Martland Maths Challenge competition.
The event is supported by Mr and Mrs Martland and family in memory of their son Thomas who sadly lost his battle with cancer. This year was the 21st occasion on which the event has taken place and this year ten teams from feeder schools took part. Every feeder school has won the event at least once over the years.
This year all questions had a 'Harry Potter' theme, Our team worked together brilliantly, answering the tricky questions using their problem solving skills. Unfortunately, our team did not clinch the trophy this this year, however they participated with great enthusiasm and showed brilliant team work. They were awarded with certificates and chocolates for their efforts - Well done children! Also a big thank you to the parents and families who came along to offer their support.
Well done to all of Year 5 children for the fantastic effort you have made for World Book Day! It was great fun to see each others dressing up efforts!
