May 2022 - Year 4 had a fun day out, visiting Cuerden Valley to finalise their learning on rivers and the water cycle. We identified and photographed many of the river features that we had learnt about in class. We also took photographs of the three river processes in action - erosion, deposition and transportation. Later, we acted out the processes of the water cycle then went on to measure the turgidity (cleanliness) of the River Lostock and the PH of the river. We found out that the River Lostock was a clean river and that the water was acidic. Another way that we were able to tell whether the river was clean or not was by identifying how many different species of life we could find in the river. We identified seven different species which told us that the River Lostock was clean.
