Year 5

In Art, we explored Typography to make space words.

Our new music topic is all about Space! today, we listened to the composition called ‘Mars’ by Holst. We listened out for all the different sound families in the orchestra

Fudge making as part of our DT topic! Yummy!

In gymnastics, we used a range of equipment to climb, jump and roll.

The forest was flooded from all of the rain, so today we had fun on the playground. We made ‘Christmas tree cookies’ and used the hand drill to make the holes.

In RE, we have been learning about the ‘Jesse Tree’, which is a way for Christians to look at the scriptures. We drew our own Jesse Trees to represent the scriptures.

Science. Demonstrating that dissolving, mixing and changing of state are reversible. observation over time.

We made Mezuzah cases as part of out DT topic.

In maths, discovering cube numbers using blocks.

Forest School Fun! This morning we went into the forest with Mrs Murray and had lots of fun exploring, den building and making fishing rods!

In Art, we looked at the school building and made sketches.

Music- Busy Ancient City Athens. Today we started to learn our class song ‘Busy Ancient City Athens’. We also learnt about an Ancient Greek instrument called a ‘Kithara’

School Council pitches. Today, some of the children in Year 5 made their presentations on why they would like to be elected as our class councillor. We will be voting later this week.... Watch this space!

Character description in English. We looked at the text ‘In our hands’ and used inference skills to think about the character.

Year 5 have been exploring landscapes by two contrasting artists- Vanessa Gardiner and The Shoreditch Sketcher. They used a range of medium to create their own ideas based on the artists.
