As part of Green Day, Year 6 investigated the affects of climate change on a number of countries. We researched how these countries were affected and compared the information.
Our first topic, this half term, is focused on Antarctica. We will be exploring the physical landscape of this fascinating yet harsh continent; discussing how it impacts resources around the world; explorers who have traveled there and finishing thinking about it's future and the impact of climate change and global warming.
Below is a knowledge organiser with an outline of vocabulary and concepts you may need.
In our first lesson, we researched the key vocabulary needed for the term e.g. Latitude, Longitude, Hemisphere, Prime Meridian, Time Zones etc and created information posters to teach Year 5 the technical terms.
We were thrilled to be joined by Al Sylvester MBE by zoom who spoke all about his expedition to the South Pole. We were thrilled to listen to all the exciting and terrifying tales of his difficult mission.
