Summer 1- Plants
We started our science topic on plants by exploring different fruits and making observational drawings of a variety of seeds.
The children spent time sorting and classifying bulbs and seeds. The children the create observational drawings of a range of bulbs. They noted what observations they made about the bulbs.
Year 2 have ‘planted’ runner bean seeds. As we wanted to make observations as the beans grew, we decided to grow them in mini greenhouses which we made using a plastic bag and paper towels. We have put the greenhouses up at the window and we are watering the regularly. The children were amazed at how the runner beans have changed as they have started to grow. The children are keeping a plant diary to note down their observations as the beans change.
