Expressive Art and Design

During one of our music sessions, we experimented with matching movements to sounds - lots of zig zags, dots and swirls!

Today we used our musical talents to add sounds effects to one of our favourite stories, Peace at Last by Jill Murphy.

We made the most the the lovely weather by painting our papier-mâché Solar System outside. We explore mixing colours and creating different textures using brushes and sponges. So many opportunities for creative expression and exploration!

As part of our Platinum Jubilee celebrations, we having been using our crumpling, tearing and joining skills to create our own ‘Agent X’ inspired collage of the queen. We can’t wait to see our completed pieces in our first Art Exhibition!

We had an amazing afternoon during our Clay Workshop. Our visiting artist, Andrew, encouraged us to use our hands and tools to manipulate the clay. We even had a go of the potters wheel. We were fascinated by the different textures and sensations. Thank you Andrew! What a wonderful experience.

Our parents and carers accompanied us to our first Art Exhibition. We loved spotting our own pieces and talking about all the other art displayed. Which was your favourite?

We investigated how to mix our own colours using the powder paints. We were amazed by the way the colours blended together to create something new.

We have been learning how to to use mirrors to create portraits like one of our favourite artists, Frida Khalo!
