Welcome Letter

Hello,

I hope you are all well and have had a lovely summer break. I am very excited to welcome you all back to school and meet all of your parents/ carers for the first time. We will be welcoming you back into our own class bubble, with myself and Mrs Keen. This does mean that things will be slightly different to what you remember before you finished for the holidays, but it just means we get to spend lots of time together as a class, which in my eyes is a great thing J.

We will have rules to follow about hygiene, with hand washing at different points in the day. When you come in in the morning you will drop off your coats in the cloakroom and will wash your hands before you come back into class ready to start the day. We will then be washing hands throughout the day at different times.  We will also spend play times and lunch times with our class in our bubble, we will not be mixing with different year groups. You will all have your own pencil case and stationery, which will be labelled with your name on, so you will have everything you need.

We will start of the first week spending time getting to know each other and learning our new routines, getting outside as much as possible. I am looking forward to finding out all about my new class and hopefully you will enjoy learning new things all about me. We will spend time where needed focusing on the emotional elements of returning to school and working to build up resilience and support our emotions depending on the need of the class. We will then begin to work on revisiting what has been missed from Year 1. This will be based on the class’s needs and with children being moved on once they are ready, ensuring you all continue to be stretched and challenged. We will continue to work on our phonics and will be focusing mainly on phase 5. Once we do move on to our Year 2 curriculum, our first topic will be ‘The Place Where I Live,’ which will have us exploring the world in which we live and our local environment through various different stories and foundation subjects.

I hope you are all ready to come back and join us in school and are reassured that coming back to school will involve lots of fun, safe activities. I am really looking forward to starting our Year 2 journey together and can’t wait to see you all.

Miss Clarkson. J
