History

Our history topic this term is to learn about The Great Plague. You will find the key facts below on the Great Plague Knowledge Organiser.

We sketched an image of a plague doctor then researched the internet to find out why they wore such a strange outfit.

During Black History month, we learnt about the contemporary author and Children's Laureate (2013-2015) Malorie Blackman. We read her book called 'Cloud Busting' - a book written entirely in poetry with a strong moral message. We researched how Malorie came to be an author and found out that she loved reading when she was a child but could not find any books with characters who had darker skin tones like herself. So, as an adult, she began writing books to fill this gap in the market and has now written over 70 books! We went on to create fact file pages about the life and achievements of Malorie Blackman.
