Compare an area of the Uk - Liverpool, with an area of a non-European country- Kisumu (Kenya.)
As part of this term’s geography topic, Year 2 have been comparing Liverpool (our nearest port city), with the port city of Kisumu, Kenya. As a school we have a partnership with a school based in Kisumu so it has been a great opportunity to focus on Kisumu for our comparison study.
Before we started comparing Kisumu and Liverpool, Year 2 spent time learning the 7 continents and the surrounding oceans. Once the children had developing an understanding of the continents, they began to use Atlases to explore where the Europe and Africa was, and then this led to the children locating England and Kenya. The children were then able to locate the cities of Liverpool and Kisumu.
