Admissions
This section provides important information about:
-
Our oversubscription criteria, which apply when there are more applications than places available.
-
The guidance parents and carers should follow when applying for a place at our school and Nursery.
Applications for Reception places must be submitted online through the Local Authority.
If you are applying under church criteria, a supplementary information form must also be completed and returned directly to the school office.
While we are a Catholic school, our school community is wonderfully diverse. Many of our families do not have a faith commitment, and we are proud to welcome children from a range of backgrounds, including Hindu, Muslim and other faith and non-faith families. Everyone is welcome at our school.
In 2025, we received 71 applications (across first, second and third preferences) for 30 Reception places. After allocations were made, places were still available. We are aware that some families choose not to apply because they believe they may not secure a place — however, this is often not the case. We warmly encourage prospective parents to apply.

Appeals
Lancashire County Council manages admissions and appeals on behalf of the school.
If your child has not been offered a place at St. Bede's you have the right to appeal. There is a formal appeals process to follow, and the school can provide guidance and the necessary information to help you with your appeal. Please contact the school office for further details.
Visiting Our School
We warmly invite prospective parents and carers to visit our school during September, October, November and January if you are applying for a place for the following September.
We are proud to be a nurturing school where every child is known, valued and supported to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. While our website and policies provide useful information, they cannot fully capture the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community that visitors experience when they walk through our doors.
We encourage you to come and see our school in action — meet our staff and pupils, explore our learning environment, and experience the caring ethos that makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.
In Year Admissions
In-year admission refers to applying for a school place after the start of the autumn term. Any application submitted after this point will be considered an in-year application.
The in-year admission process is managed directly by the school. Parents and carers are asked to complete the in-year application form, available below.
If a place cannot be offered, parents have a legal right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Lancashire County Council administers the appeals process on behalf of the school. Parents can complete the school’s appeal form via the following link: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/school-appeals/appeal-for-a-school-place/
